Textron Aviation Defense LLC, a Textron company, has been awarded a five-year U.S. government contract valued at over $150 million to provide Sustaining Engineering and Program Management (SEPM) services for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Army T-6A, T-6B, and T-6D aircraft.
Originally awarded in 2021, this extension adds five more years of systems engineering, program management, and support for maintenance, repairs, modifications, and integrity programs. The modification raises the contract’s total cumulative ceiling value from $240 million to $510 million. All work will be performed in Wichita, Kansas.
“This follow-on SEPM contract reflects the U.S. Government T-6 Joint Program Office’s continued confidence in our team and our ability to keep the T-6 Texan II fleet mission-ready,” said Travis Tyler, president and CEO of Textron Aviation Defense. “Our focus remains on sustaining aircraft availability and supporting our customers as they train the next generation of military pilots.”
The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II is the world’s premier military flight trainer. Leveraging nearly 100 years of experience and more than 255,000 aircraft delivered globally, the Texan II offers low acquisition, operating, and sustainment costs that help air forces fast-track pilot production. Its installed base more than quadruples that of its closest competitor, and the T-6 family has been the world’s number one integrated training system (ITS) for over two decades. The aircraft benefits from an active production line with a Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) rating of 10—the highest possible—and a proven supply chain.
With this five-year extension, Textron Aviation Defense continues to ensure the T-6 Texan II fleet remains mission-ready, supporting the training of future military pilots across all three U.S. branches.
