Raytheon, an RTX business, has signed a $3.7 billion contract to supply Patriot GEM-T interceptors to Ukraine, bolstering the country’s air defense capabilities against airborne threats, including tactical ballistic missiles.
A key element of this direct commercial sale is the new GEM-T production facility in Schrobenhausen, Germany, operated by COMLOG—a joint venture between Raytheon and MBDA Deutschland. The plant is expected to enhance supply chain resilience and help replenish Ukraine’s interceptor inventory while also supporting other international contracts.
The Patriot Advanced Capability-2 (PAC-2) Guidance Enhanced Missile-Tactical (GEM-T) is a primary effector for the combat-proven Patriot air and missile defense system, which serves as the air defense foundation for 19 countries. The system has demonstrated effectiveness against nearly every type of airborne threat.
“Raytheon is focused on maximizing production capacity, ensuring a steady, reliable supply of these combat-proven interceptors for the U.S. and allies like Ukraine who rely on Patriot to protect their citizens, infrastructure and sovereignty,” said Raytheon President Phil Jasper. “Raytheon is investing heavily to increase GEM-T production to support growing global demand, driven by major internal and partner investments, second-sourcing initiatives and the expansion of our global supply chain.”
With ongoing investments and international partnerships, Raytheon aims to scale up GEM-T production to meet rising global demand, ensuring that allied nations can maintain robust, long-term air defense readiness.
