Fiocchi, a CSG company, has launched a new generation of counter-drone ammunition enabling soldiers to neutralize small UAVs using standard-issue rifles. Debuted at Enforce Tac 2026 in Nuremberg, the solution addresses the growing threat of low-cost, low-altitude drones on modern battlefields.
Unlike traditional air defense systems ill-suited for close-range drone engagements, Fiocchi’s ammunition provides an individual last-line defense. Designed for standard assault rifles—including NATO 5.56×45 mm—it requires no extra equipment or retraining. The round employs a multi-projectile concept, dispersing tungsten pellets after leaving the barrel to increase hit probability against fast-moving targets while minimizing collateral damage in urban settings.
“The proliferation of small drones has fundamentally changed the battlefield. By enabling counter-drone capability directly through standard-issue rifles, we address one of the most urgent operational gaps,” said Petr Marijczuk, CEO of CSG Ammo+.
The ammunition is intended for infantry, special forces, and security units, with use cases including troop protection, convoy defense, and critical infrastructure security. It is also suitable for law enforcement in urban environments.
Development involved close cooperation with the Italian Armed Forces, including testing by special forces and the Italian Army. Extensive validation in realistic scenarios has confirmed effectiveness against small UAVs.
Following the Enforce Tac launch, Fiocchi is engaging international customers and preparing for industrial-scale production. Additional calibers—5.45×39 mm and 7.62×51 mm—are in development based on demand.
“This product demonstrates how CSG companies translate battlefield experience into scalable industrial solutions,” added Marijczuk. The launch strengthens Fiocchi’s defense segment position and expands CSG’s counter-UAS portfolio.
