IDV, a Leonardo company, has launched a new production line for the LMV-BR 2 4×4 multirole vehicle at its Sete Lagoas facility in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The first vehicles produced will satisfy a contract with the Brazilian Army for 420 units. Based on IDV’s proven LMV platform, the LMV-BR 2 was developed to enhance mobility, protection, and versatility for troops in diverse missions, improving operational efficiency under challenging conditions.
The inauguration was attended by Brazilian Army High Command Generals, who reviewed the new facility and IDV’s industrial capabilities. This line significantly advances IDV’s productive and technological capacity in Brazil, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening the country’s defence industrial base while meeting military operational demands. The Brazilian Army currently operates 32 LMV-BR vehicles, all receiving continuous IDV maintenance and support. High fleet reliability and availability highlight IDV’s dedication to supporting military readiness globally.
Beyond the domestic market, the new production line enables IDV to expand global operations and pursue export opportunities. With this industrial expansion, the company consolidates its strategic defence market position and strengthens Brazil as a hub for defence vehicle production and supply to international nations. IDV’s LMV platform remains the flagship light multirole vehicle, with over 4,000 units worldwide, available with various protection levels, cab configurations, and mission-specific variants.
