In a move that solidifies the transition from development to full-scale operations, ArianeGroup and Airbus Defence and Space signed a major supply contract on March 11 in Les Mureaux, France. The agreement is dedicated to the Ariane 6 operational phase and directly supports the industrial ramp-up needed to meet launch demands.

The contract entails the delivery of 27 shipsets, encompassing the large lightweight carbon fibre structures produced by Airbus Defence and Space. This includes the interface structures for the main and upper stages, the launch vehicle adapters, and the upper parts for all Ariane 6 boosters. This long-term commitment extends a decades-long collaboration between the two aerospace giants.

The agreement is a clear signal of Ariane 6’s readiness. Anne Quillon, ArianeGroup’s Chief Procurement Officer, stated that the contract is a crucial element in securing a robust production increase and fulfilling agreements with both commercial and institutional customers. It triggers essential work across the European production network, including facilities in Bremen, Les Mureaux, and Kourou. Raquel González Sola of Airbus Defence and Space confirmed that this partnership is instrumental in making Ariane 6 a global standard for heavy-lift launches, reinforcing Europe’s foothold in space.
