Signature Aviation, the world’s largest network of private aviation terminals, and South Florida-based UrbanLink Air Mobility have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on building the infrastructure for all-electric air operations across Florida. The partnership aims to safely and scalably integrate zero-emission aircraft into the state’s aviation ecosystem.
The core of the agreement involves exploring the development of necessary infrastructure, including charging stations, at Signature’s numerous private terminals to support UrbanLink’s future fleet of BETA Technologies eCTOL (electric conventional take-off and landing) aircraft. Additionally, the companies are working to establish UrbanLink’s primary operating and maintenance base at a Signature location in South Florida, creating a central hub for its electric air mobility network.
For UrbanLink, a subsidiary of URBYN Mobility, this partnership provides critical immediate access to premium existing infrastructure. “The use of private aviation terminals is critical as we launch operations and await the build-out of dedicated vertiport infrastructure for more advanced urban air mobility,” explained Ed Wegel, Founder and CEO of UrbanLink. He noted that the collaboration ensures a seamless pathway from initial eCTOL operations at airports to future expanded services.
The alliance builds on Signature’s existing work with BETA Technologies to examine charging solutions, signaling a multi-faceted approach to supporting the electric aviation value chain. “Signature is already collaborating with BETA on charging infrastructure, and our operating teams are now closely aligned on route development and base planning with UrbanLink,” Wegel added.
For Signature Aviation, the partnership represents a forward-looking investment in the next era of private travel. “We’re always focused on creating exceptional experiences for our guests and elevating every moment of their journeys,” said Tony Lefebvre, CEO of Signature Aviation. “This partnership showcases how our team is looking to the future to deliver those great experiences. Together with UrbanLink, we’re looking forward to growing the infrastructure and access for all-electric air mobility throughout Florida.”
The collaboration underscores a significant step in making regional electric air travel a practical reality. By leveraging Signature’s established network and UrbanLink’s operational expertise, the partnership aims to lay the groundwork for a sustainable, efficient, and scalable electric aviation network in one of the United States’ most dynamic aviation markets.
