L3Harris partners with MHI RJ Aviation on CRJ fleet maintenance.

L3Harris Technologies and MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ) have launched a significant multi-year partnership for base maintenance of CRJ700 and CRJ900 regional jets. The agreement establishes two dedicated service lines at L3Harris’s facility in Mirabel, Quebec, where the company will perform comprehensive nose-to-tail modifications, ensuring the fleet’s ongoing performance and reliability for operators worldwide.

The Mirabel site holds historical significance for the CRJ program, having produced the first CRJ900 prototype. “It’s especially meaningful that the same hangars will now support its continued evolution,” said Jason Lambert, President of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance at L3Harris. He emphasized the partnership’s deep connection to the aircraft’s legacy and a shared commitment to service excellence.

For MHIRJ, the agreement strategically expands its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) network. “With these dedicated lines, we augment our MRO network, provide accretive value to our customers and support the growing demand for CRJ aftermarket services,” stated Ismail Mokabel, President and COO of MHIRJ. The collaboration is designed to meet increasing needs for heavy maintenance and modifications, supporting the thousands of CRJ aircraft in global service.

The partnership was also highlighted as a win for Quebec’s aerospace sector. Christine Fréchette, Quebec’s Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Energy, noted that such collaborations demonstrate the province’s ability to attract major investment. “It is thanks to such collaborations that our aerospace ecosystem… can remain a driver of growth, innovation, and prosperity,” she said.

With aircraft inductions already underway, the initial work focuses on the established modification program. However, both companies are actively exploring near-term projects to broaden the partnership’s scope, potentially adding heavy maintenance and specialized engineering services for the CRJ fleet. This foundational agreement positions L3Harris and MHIRJ to jointly support the aircraft’s operational lifecycle for years to come.
