At the MRO Europe conference, BAE Systems unveiled Horizon Solutions™, a newly branded and significantly expanded suite of aftermarket services for its commercial avionics customers. This strategic move consolidates and enhances the company’s repair and support offerings under a unified banner, signaling a deepened commitment to proactive lifecycle support.
More than a simple rebrand, Horizon Solutions represents an evolution in BAE Systems’ approach, shifting from traditional transactional support to a holistic partnership model. The portfolio is designed to address the pressing challenges airlines and operators face today: maximizing fleet availability, optimizing operational costs, and navigating the complexities of upgrading legacy platforms.
“We are translating our customers’ trust into tangible, forward-looking support,” said Jack Stevens, Vice President and General Manager of Controls and Avionics Solutions at BAE Systems. “Horizon Solutions is a commitment to anticipating needs, not just reacting to them. It’s about providing the tools and partnerships that help our clients stay ahead in a competitive and evolving market.”
The Horizon Solutions framework introduces several key, value-added services aimed at extending equipment life and improving operational efficiency:
- Flexible Modernization Pathways: Through tailored trade-in and retrofit programs, the service makes upgrading to the latest avionics technologies more accessible and financially viable, helping fleets stay compliant and competitive.
- Enhanced Reliability Engineering: Beyond standard repairs, the portfolio includes targeted overhaul services and specific reliability upgrade packages designed to reduce unscheduled removals and increase overall fleet uptime.
- Fleet Optimization Programs: A cornerstone of the new offering is focused on fleet harmonization. By helping operators standardize components and configurations across different aircraft, BAE Systems aims to streamline inventory management, reduce training burdens, and lower total cost of ownership.
This launch leverages BAE Systems’ global scale and deep expertise as a leader in aircraft lifecycle support. The company currently supports over 600 operators and 33,000 aircraft worldwide, providing engineering, maintenance, and repair services from entry-into-service through mid-life upgrades and eventual retirement.
Horizon Solutions™, therefore, is positioned as the strategic conduit for this expertise in the commercial avionics aftermarket. It reflects an understanding that true support in the modern aviation industry requires a long-term view—partnering with customers to ensure their fleets are not only flying today but are prepared for the demands of tomorrow.
