SalamAir Cements LEAP-1A Engine Support with Expanded StandardAero Partnership

by Editorial Staff

Oman’s SalamAir has significantly deepened its maintenance relationship with StandardAero, securing long-term support for its fleet of CFM International LEAP-1A engines. The two companies have signed a new General Terms Agreement (GTA) that expands StandardAero’s role from routine maintenance to include specialized Performance Restoration Shop Visits (PRSVs).

This strategic move is a cornerstone of SalamAir’s growth strategy as a low-cost carrier. The airline, operating a modern fleet of 15 Airbus A321neo aircraft, requires robust and reliable engine support to maintain its operational tempo. The LEAP-1A engines powering these jets are critical assets, and their performance directly impacts fleet availability and efficiency.

Adrian Hamilton-Manns, CEO of SalamAir, emphasized the partnership’s importance. “As we continue our expansion, having strong partners like StandardAero is non-negotiable,” he stated. “Their proven ability to execute quick-turn shop visits and their responsive approach align perfectly with our operational needs, making them a key enabler of our growth plan.”

The agreement builds upon an existing relationship, with StandardAero having already successfully performed several quick-turn shop visits for SalamAir. The new GTA formalizes and extends this collaboration to cover more comprehensive engine overhauls.

Olivier Ruffet, Vice President of Sales for StandardAero, expressed his company’s enthusiasm. “We are grateful for SalamAir’s trust and are proud to expand our support for their LEAP-1A program,” Ruffet said. “This agreement underscores our commitment to being a premier MRO provider for next-generation engines in the Middle East and beyond.”

StandardAero supports the LEAP engine family from its extensive 810,000-square-foot facility in San Antonio, Texas, which was designated a CFM LEAP Premier MRO provider. The company has also made significant investments in component repair capabilities, having industrialized over 350 unique repairs for the LEAP-1A and -1B engines. Furthermore, to ensure a ready supply of expertise, StandardAero is cultivating new talent through its in-house Aviation Mechanic Training Program at the same location.

This extended partnership ensures SalamAir has dedicated, high-quality MRO support for its current and future operations, providing a solid technical foundation for the airline’s ambitious growth trajectory.
