Sikorsky’s Total Assurance Program (TAP™) for the S-92 helicopter continues to demonstrate its long-term value, as six offshore energy operators renewed their contracts in 2025 and early 2026. These latest agreements, extending support into the next decade, encompass nearly 100 aircraft and represent a strong vote of confidence in the program.
Launched in 2004 with just two operators, TAP has grown into a cornerstone of S-92 operations. It functions as a power-by-the-hour service, giving a fleet of one or up to 60 aircraft a predictable cost-per-hour while covering over 90% of replacement parts. Nine operators currently benefit from TAP, which now protects 57% of the global in-service S-92 fleet (155 out of 270 aircraft). The program’s endurance was underscored by an S-92 that retired after 20 years of service, having been on TAP for its entire operational life.
“Renewing these agreements into the early 2030s signals confidence in the S-92 helicopter’s endurance and our ability to deliver parts that help achieve consistent mid-90 percent availability rates,” said Leon Silva, Sikorsky vice president.
The program’s effectiveness is driven by proactive logistics and data. Sikorsky utilizes four forward stocking locations on three continents to pre-position long-lead and high-demand spares. This logistical network is paired with advanced aircraft health monitoring. By analyzing Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) data from the 310 S-92s delivered, Sikorsky has developed AI tools to optimize maintenance schedules.
This data-driven approach results in “condition-based maintenance,” longer periods between major overhauls, and lower inventory costs for the entire fleet—which has now surpassed 2.6 million flight hours. “These renewed multi-year commitments highlight the market’s confidence in the program’s reliability and long-term value,” added Pat Sheedy, CEO of Milestone, a key stakeholder in the S-92 market.
