StandardAero finishes inaugural CFM LEAP-1A PRSV overhaul.

by Editorial Staff

StandardAero has completed its first performance restoration shop visit (PRSV) for a CFM International LEAP-1A engine, marking a significant expansion of its aftermarket capabilities. The engine, owned by global leasing leader AerCap, successfully passed testing at StandardAero’s San Antonio facility and has been returned to service powering an Airbus A320neo family aircraft.

The achievement represents a key validation of StandardAero’s LEAP program maturity, which now serves more than 20 customers worldwide. As one of the first independent MRO providers to secure a CFM Branded Service Agreement in the Americas, the company has been building LEAP capabilities since March 2023.

“Delivering our first LEAP PRSV is a substantial step forward,” said Rebecca Lane, StandardAero Senior Vice President of Global Sales. “That this milestone was achieved on an AerCap-owned engine is especially meaningful. AerCap is the world’s largest aviation leasing company, and their trust in our San Antonio team speaks volumes.”

Leasing companies like AerCap now represent roughly half of the global commercial fleet. AerCap’s portfolio of approximately 1,700 aircraft includes more than 350 LEAP-powered A320neo and 737 MAX jets.

StandardAero’s San Antonio operation, spanning 810,000 square feet, serves as its LEAP Center of Excellence. The facility has provided quick-turn shop visit services since March 2024 and completed test cell correlation for the LEAP program last November, laying essential groundwork for full PRSV capability.

Beyond PRSV and QTSV services, StandardAero is aggressively expanding its LEAP component repair portfolio. Through its Component Repair Services network and Repair Development Center of Excellence, the company has industrialized more than 450 distinct LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B repairs. This internal repair development helps reduce customer costs and turnaround times while increasing supply chain resilience.

Workforce development remains central to the company’s strategy. StandardAero continues to grow its LEAP technician team through its in-house Aviation Mechanic Training Program at the San Antonio Training Academy, ensuring sustained talent pipeline for growing customer demand.

AerCap, headquartered in Dublin and listed on the NYSE, serves approximately 300 clients globally. With offices across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, the lessor maintains one of the industry’s most substantial order books.

StandardAero’s customer base for LEAP services now spans North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and Asia-Pacific. The company continues investing in facilities, repairs and personnel to support the expanding global LEAP fleet.
