Collins Aerospace lands 3-year C-130 wheels and brakes deal.

by Editorial Staff

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, has bolstered its global support network for C-130 Hercules operators by signing new three-year parts distribution agreements. The company has partnered with Integrated Procurement Technologies, S3 AeroDefense, and Derco, a Lockheed Martin company, to enhance the availability and logistics for its wheels and brakes across the fleet’s lifecycle.

The C-130 Hercules remains a cornerstone of global air mobility, supporting diverse missions from combat to humanitarian aid in over 70 nations. Its ability to operate from short, unprepared runways places exceptional demand on its landing systems. Wheels and brakes are mission-critical, directly enabling the aircraft’s signature capability to land in austere environments.

“These agreements are about ensuring readiness,” said Matt Maurer, Vice President and General Manager of Landing Systems at Collins Aerospace. “By expanding our distribution network, we provide targeted, efficient support so C-130 operators can maintain fleet availability and execute their missions wherever they are needed.”

The partnerships will benefit current international operators of C-130s equipped with Collins systems, as well as those considering upgrades. The focus is on streamlining the supply chain to deliver parts and support more effectively, minimizing aircraft downtime.

Collins’ braking systems for the C-130 incorporate proprietary DURACARB® carbon heat sink technology. This innovation is designed to provide significant operational advantages, including extended service life, reduced maintenance cycles, and lower overall ownership costs. The material’s durability contributes directly to increased operational efficiency for fleets, a critical factor for sustained operations in challenging conditions.

The legendary C-130 has been in service since the 1950s, and continuous support for its vital components is key to its enduring legacy. This network expansion underscores Collins Aerospace’s commitment to the global C-130 community, ensuring these versatile aircraft continue to serve reliably for years to come. By strengthening its logistics partnerships, Collins aims to deliver consistent, responsive support for the hard-working Hercules fleet worldwide.
