Satair, an Airbus company, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Unical Aviation Inc., a leading global supplier of aircraft used serviceable material (USM), along with its subsidiary, ecube, an expert in aircraft storage, disassembly, and transition services. This strategic move significantly accelerates Satair’s expansion in the USM market and its ability to offer fully integrated aftermarket solutions.
The acquisition brings Unical’s and ecube’s seven operational sites across North America, Spain, and the United Kingdom into Satair’s network. The combined entities reported a 2024 revenue of $298 million and employ 413 people. This adds considerable scale and geographic reach to Satair’s global footprint.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Unical and ecube to Satair,” said Richard Stoddart, CEO of Satair and Head of Airbus Material Services. “At its core, this acquisition is about enhancing aircraft lifecycle management capabilities. Prolonging the lifespan of material resources is essential to maximising asset value and establishing responsible practices that benefit our industry’s long-term future.”
The integration of Unical and ecube will enhance Satair’s capabilities as a reliable USM provider. It will complement and leverage the existing engine and multi-fleet USM expertise of VAS Aero Services, which Satair acquired in 2022. The combined expertise across parts supply, disassembly, and end-of-life support aims to create a more robust and sustainable service offering for customers.
Sharon Green, CEO of Unical, stated, “We are delighted to join forces with Satair. This partnership marks a pivotal moment, and I have full faith that together we will unlock significant value. As a global leader in USM and aircraft transition services, we are a powerful and natural match for Satair’s ambitions in services growth, material availability, and sustainability.”
The transaction, pending customary regulatory approvals, is expected to be finalized in early 2026.
