Honeywell inks Abu Dhabi avionics repair deal with Abu Dhabi Aviation.

Honeywell and Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) have entered a multi-year agreement to streamline Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services for AW139 helicopters in the UAE. The deal focuses on Honeywell’s Primus Epic integrated avionics systems, aiming to provide local logistics support, enhance efficiency, and significantly reduce aircraft downtime for regional operators.

Under the new model, ADA will manage the end-to-end MRO logistics for these critical components. This includes selecting the optimal Honeywell repair facility worldwide, handling all shipping, and providing full tracking throughout the repair process. Previously, regional customers had to manage the entire logistics chain themselves, shipping components directly to Honeywell plants. This centralized logistics service is designed to reduce complexity, offering a simpler and faster pathway for operators across the Middle East and Africa, while Honeywell continues to guarantee all repair quality through its certified global network.

Mike Vallillo, vice president of Defense and Space International at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, stated, “Our agreement is a testimony to the strength of Honeywell’s collaboration with Abu Dhabi Aviation and our commitment to leading the way towards the future of aviation. Together, we are easing the logistical burden for our UAE-based customers, and in doing so, we are making critical repairs simpler and faster.”

The AW139 is a prevalent helicopter platform in the region, serving vital roles in military, civil, and oil and gas operations. By localizing the support structure and simplifying logistics, the partnership directly targets increased fleet readiness for these essential sectors. The enhanced model ensures that operators can return their aircraft to service more rapidly, supporting continuous mission-critical and commercial activities.

This agreement, extending until 2029, builds upon a decade-long collaboration between Honeywell and ADA. It represents a strategic step in expanding advanced MRO capabilities within the Middle East and Africa, aligning with broader industry trends toward regional service hubs that offer faster turnaround and dedicated local expertise.
