AFI KLM E&M and SunExpress sign long-term engine maintenance deal.

by Editorial Staff

SunExpress has deepened its strategic partnership with AFI KLM E&M by signing a long-term maintenance agreement for its CFM56-7B engines, signaling a significant renewal of trust and collaboration between the two companies. The contract, effective from 2025 through 2031, covers comprehensive shop visit services for the engines powering SunExpress’s fleet of Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.

This new agreement builds upon and expands a previous maintenance contract established in 2018. It is designed to directly support SunExpress’s ambitious operational growth, providing the flexible, high-quality MRO services essential for sustaining fleet expansion and reliability. The airline, a key leisure carrier connecting Europe and Türkiye, is growing its fleet from 85 aircraft this summer to a planned 166 by 2035, making dependable technical support more critical than ever.

“We are honored to renew and strengthen our partnership with SunExpress,” said Martijn de Vries, Vice President at KLM Engine Services. “We are committed to delivering efficient, high-performance engine solutions that support SunExpress in maintaining its excellent operational standards.”

The partnership, rooted in a proven track record, also opens the door for future collaboration. Both companies have expressed potential interest in extending the support to include the newer LEAP-1B engines, which power SunExpress’s forthcoming Boeing 737 MAX fleet, indicating a forward-looking dimension to the strengthened relationship. For SunExpress, this agreement with a global MRO leader provides a stable technical foundation for its next decade of growth, ensuring its fleet remains ready to meet rising travel demand.
